Accessible Communities are Beautiful Cropped Tee

* I work out of Asheville NC which was devastated by hurricane Helene- I usually like doing photoshoots of real, rad people in my clothes, but won’t be able to prioritize that for a while as the community recovers from this natural disaster. Profits (anything above our cost to make) go towards supporting local mutual aid efforts raising money for survival expenses (healthcare, housing, bail, etc.) for trans folx, BIPOC folx and incarcerated individuals. This includes covering costs for items used in mutual aid raffles,  covering expenses to donate design time to mutual aid groups, and donating money directly to mutual aid fundraisers. About the Shirt;

Design is original ink and digital mixed media, screen printing is done by the Asheville based ‘Lightningbolt Ink’ queer owned+ living wage print shop. Each is heat set and made with all those good things that make for a long lasting colorfast professional screen print. Blanks used for printing are ‘American Apparel 307GD Garment-Dyed Femme Heavyweight Muscle Tee’, however these may be substituted when not accessible due to supply chain issues or fat-phobic industry issues (ie. not stocking certain sizes), and as such color may vary slightly. ***For this blank, the company provides only sizes S-2X, meaning XS, as well as 3X 4X and 5X all come in a different cut (more traditional full length tee with standard sleeves instead of cutoff).***

We run prints relatively frequently, and the speed with which your order gets shipped to you will be based on how soon the next print run is. If we have it in back-stock from tabling, it will be sent out within the next 3 days, but if not it may take 2-4 weeks to be printed and ready to ship. We do such small batches because the primary goal of these pieces is fundraising, and as such we do not want to put those we are fundraising for at financial risk with large up front orders.

Accessible communities are beautiful, because accessibility doesn’t stop at a physical accommodation. Accessible communities are free of the cages that break bodies and minds and families. Accessible communities understand that no one is truly free or accommodated if they are not able to eat, not able to be sheltered from extreme weather, not able to lie down and call somewhere home when they are tired. Accessible communities do not replicate the violences of wh*te supremacy, colonialism, imperialism, nor do they force people into cisgender or heteronormative modalities of relating to one’s own body or each other. Accessible communities are ones that know no body can be well when the water is poisoned, the land is being stripped, and the forests are being uprooted.

One of the direct outcomes of so many overlapping systems of oppression we are facing is violence to the human body, and resistance movements which effectively address those systems necessarily include disability justice. Your disabled comrades are not at the peripheries of liberation- they are central to it.
